Standing proudly at the 1790's site of Fort Hamilton, the 3-story structure was erected by the grateful citizens of Hamilton and dedicated on July 4, 1906. Notable monument features include: colorful windows that honor the service of women during the Civil War and, the most prominent feature is Billy Yank, a 17-foot, 3,500-pound Civil War soldier proclaiming victory. The statue was designed and built by Rudolph Thiem.
